Dr John Cook

Former Headmaster of Christ College Brecon and of Epsom College

John began his teaching career as senior Science master at Haileybury, following on to become headmaster of two boarding schools; Christ College Brecon and Epsom College. John now works as an Educational Consultant.

 

Lana Foster

Managing Director, Bright World

Having spent the previous 10 years promoting British education in the independent school sector, Lana founded Bright World Guardianships in 2000. Bright World now employs over 48 professionals all dedicated to placing students into UK institutions and safeguarding them as educational guardians while they are here. Lana is passionate about promoting good, accredited guardianship to overseas parents, schools and agents alike and has been an avid supporter of AEGIS since Bright World first became accredited in 2006.

 

Ben Hughes

Managing Director, Pippa's Guardians

Having been a boarder from the age of nine at The Elms Prep School and subsequently at Cheltenham College, Ben has a good understanding of the challenges faced by pupils who are far from home. He continued his education at Monash University in Melbourne so has also experienced life as an international student. Ben is passionate about making a difference to the guardianship sector, which he has been involved with since becoming Managing Director of Pippa’s Guardians in April 2013, and now employs staff throughout the whole of the UK.

Adam Lubbock

Director of Kings’ River Education Ltd, Suffolk

Adam has had educational experience within both State and Independent Schools. As Director of Boarding at Woodbridge School, Suffolk for 12 years, Adam was supported by his wife Cara focusing on providing a ‘family environment’ to mainly international boarders. Within his teaching capacity Adam also acted as Head of Boys PE and Games. Adam’s new company focuses on Safeguarding within schools and he currently delivers Designated Safeguarding Lead and Governor Training in Suffolk.

 

Stuart Nicholson

Former Principal of Cambridge Centre for Sixth-Form Studies

Stuart runs an educational consultancy, has headed two independent boarding schools and is soon to become Principal of a third, Bishopstrow College in Wiltshire. He has also been Chair of the Independent Schools Association, and the Council for Independent Education, and has 25 years of experience in education.

 

Jennifer Scarfe

Deputy Head (Pastoral) Badminton School

Jennifer is currently in her 5th year at Badminton School where she is Deputy Head Pastoral and Designated Safeguarding Lead. Previously, she has held a variety of academic and pastoral responsibilities in day and boarding schools, single sex and co-ed, in both the independent and maintained sector. She has recently qualified as Youth Mental Health First Aid trainer so that she can cascade her passion, for helping young people, to the teams around her. Jennifer has held the role of Independent School’s Representative on her local Safeguarding Board and been a Tutor for the BSA.

 

Marianna Slivnitskaya

Head of Guardianship, UK Study Centre

Marianna has worked within the guardianship and education sector for more than twenty years and is passionate about promoting cultural awareness and effective guardianship among overseas agents, families and schools. As an experienced guardian and a designated safeguarding person, Marianna believes in importance of trust between the child, parent, school and guardian and an individual approach to working with children based on respecting their cultural differences and personalities.

 

Elodie Vallantine

Head of School, Moira House Girls School, Eastbourne

Elodie has over 15 years’ experience in both state and independent education.  She has first-hand experience of two very different educational systems, having gained qualifications in France and in the UK. Elodie is passionate about education, having been a Chair of Governors in a primary school for 4 years as well as an examiner, a moderator and a teacher trainer for various examination boards since 2003.

‎International Education Advisor, Coach and Non-Executive Director

Dr Helen Wright is an internationally recognised leading educator and educational advisor. She has taught at and headed some of the UK's leading schools for over 20 years.
